Let the Ends Justify the Means

Damn I hear this a lot lately. People throw it around all the time but it is a falsehood. This is something that is said by people that are willing to relax their morality to risk getting the conclusion they want.
But the relationship between the ends and the means is unknown; so you are gambling that your actions will bring about the results you want. If you get what you want you say, "the ends justified the means" and claim victory. What if the result of your action didn't save the day?
If you do the right thing all the time you will never have to apologize for the Ends coming up short on Justifying the means.
